I remember back in high school thinking that I really wanted to be a therapist of sorts (in addition to being a veterinarian – not sure how that combo would have worked…) because I really liked helping out my girlfriends with their problems. And in high school, we know that there were new ones popping up every .3 seconds. I am not sure at 15 how much assistance I actually provided, but I did like the feeling of being a sounding board and sharing my thoughts on all things life-threatening to a 10th-grader.
Well, a couple of years later (yes, only a “couple” – ha!) I finally find myself in a position where I can fulfill this dream. This month I became a Certified Health & Wellness Coach, something I blogged about early in 2012. There was a setback here and there, but I am so excited to finally be able to express this part of myself. I thoroughly enjoy my facilitation and consultation work, but coaching lets me work one-on-one with individuals, and most certainly allows for the formation of more in-depth relationships. I have worked with a coach myself, and know how positively life-altering this kind of work can be. I have decided to dedicate my practice to working with women on three main areas: nutrition, physical fitness and emotional/spiritual wellness.
