Sooo, it’s been a bit, non? And that’s an understatement. But, as I’ve said many times before, it’s hard for me to write if I’m not feeling inspired. Or, by the looks of it now, paid.
That’s right.
I’m a sell-out.
Ha! No, not really.
Well, maybe…
Anyway, back in the day when I was a kid, I used to write stories ALL the time. Usually my creations were about horses, or ghosts, and if I’m not mistaken, there was even one once about a horse that was a ghost. #skills
But as I grew up, my focus zeroed in more on the field of biological sciences – which meant a long period of time without being overly creative…unless you include making up acronyms during exam times so you could remember insane lists of things that no one would ever ask you about again. That being said, OILRIG popped into my head the other day (not one of mine) which anyone who has taken biochem/organic chemistry might remember.
Was that a good or bad flashback for you??
But a month or so ago I came across a job listing for wellness writers for the online health blog, Healthversed. They wanted a few paragraphs about you and a couple of writing samples you’d done. I, possibly caffeinated, wrote a delightful piece (a.k.a. an essay) about my love of science, health, writing and pointed them in the direction of a few of my favourite pieces from this blog. And happily, they were interested!
As it stands now, I have a few articles published – something, if I was totally honest, I think I had wanted for a very long time. And writing them is fun! I get to research all sorts of different things, and then use those odd factoids to impress all my friends and family members. I have never felt cooler. Plus, I actually get paid to write about things I talk about all the time (I even composed a lovely piece on what your poop colour can tell you – of all things!! 😉 ).
So, my friends, my creative writing energies are currently being aimed elsewhere. I won’t forget about this blog, because I love it and what I’ve composed over the years, but if you’re lookin’ for me, check me out over here.
